Action A2 Analysis of genetic diversity for conservation planning

The genetic diversity within a species is a key factor for the hopes of long-term preservation.Data on the genetic diversity are already available , but only for population Bosco Pisano. To plan the conservation of the species (eg. number of individual genotypes to duplicate and grow ex-situ strategies to improve cross-fertilization, etc..), further analysis need to be carried out, extended to Contrada Ciranna polulation. On this will be carried out investigations with molecular markers on a sample of at least 300 plants, to verify the genetic diversity both within the same population both with the population of Bosco Pisano. The CNR-IGV lead the action that will be completed within twelve months of the project.
